How It Works
Step 1: Scheduling
Your journey to fluency in French begins by booking a free trial lesson. If you’re pleased with that experience, you’ll sign up for a series of five 35-minute lessons that we can schedule to meet your goals. Most students take one lesson per week.
Step 2: Speaking
You will call me at the agreed time to start each lesson. The goal of each session is for you to work on your speaking and comprehension skills by discussing a broad range of topics that interest you and relate to your unique learning goals.
Step 3: Practicing
Mastery-level students receive a lesson review and corrections emailed directly after our conversation. All students receive suggestions for activities they can pursue between lessons to reinforce their French.
About Me
I grew up in the French-speaking part of Belgium and lived in Strasbourg, France. I received my master’s degree from the University of Louvain in Belgium. I have been teaching French professionally since 1996. During the 1990s, I gave conversational French lessons in Brussels, Belgium to multinational executives, diplomats and European institution employees. I moved to Maine in 2001 and founded French By Phone the following year. Between 2001 and 2008, I also taught French in daycares and schools including as a certified public school teacher.
